Where did our summer go? They say as you get older time seems to go by faster. That rings true for me. It seems like yesterday that it was mid-July and that we were gathering in Holland for our summer workshop. … Kudos to Chairperson Frances McMullan, the entire Professional Development Committee, and everyone else who made the workshop the success that it was. A shout out to the City of Holland, Mayor Bocks and City Manager Keith Van Beek for being such great hosts and providing such a wonderful venue. Read more.

DEI Committee Underway
Mark Washington | Chair, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

I am honored to serve as chair of MME’s first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. The purpose of the DEI Committee is to provide an intentional focus on the presence of DEI issues within MME as an organization and the communities it serves. The committee has had several discussions around the need for DEI and its inherent complexity while understanding that each of our communities has a unique local perspective and challenges. ICMA Program Comes to Madison Heights

ICMA will be bringing the nationwide certificate program "Leading with Excellence" to Madison Heights, Michigan, Oct. 26-28. This is a great opportunity for not only managers but department leaders and future managers to sharpen their leadership skills. Read more.

Experience Committee Updates

The Experience Committee is ramping up for two of our main activities - the Patriarche Award, typically presented at the MML Annual Convention happening this year Oct. 19-21 in Muskegon, and the MME Awards, presented at the MME Winter Institute. Read more.

Constitutional Amendments Pass, Board Nominations Now Open!

MME members recently voted on proposed constitution amendments for our organization. That membership vote closed on September 12 and both amendments passed overwhelmingly. The changes also mean that nominations for the board are now open until Oct. 15. Read more.
