Looking Ahead to 2024 Success

Christian Wuerth | MME President

First off, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! It is my hope that the year ahead holds a great deal of success for you and the communities you help to lead.

2024 Board of Directors Election Results

Christian Wuerth | MME President

Thank you to everyone who participated in the nomination and election process (whether you submitted a nomination, served on the nominations committee, appeared on the ballot as a candidate, or cast your vote) for the MME Board. This year marked the second year of our new elections process, and the first with a full slate of candidates for the available seats. Read more.

Ethics Committee Update

Daryl J. Delabbio | Ethics Committee Chair

I served in local government for 40 years and know that there is great value in staying involved in our professional associations. I’ve always been a strong proponent of lifelong learning and continuous education. During the past year, I learned a lot about myself and about the MME. But the biggest benefit was re-connecting with some old friends/colleagues and getting to know some new ones. It’s always about the relationships and connections we make that adds value to our endeavors. Read more.

Professional Development Committee Update

Warren Rothe | Professional Development Committee Chair

Registration for the 2024 Winter Institute in Lansing is now open! The PDC would like to extend a sincere thank you to the MME committees who have put together a stellar lineup of content. This extra work ensures that the Institute will be filled with content that is: “For Managers, By Managers.” Committee submissions include a panel discussion from the DEI Committee, a history of MME from the Experience Committee, and an Ethics Committee session on ethics in an era of division. Advocacy Committee Update

Pat McGinnis | Advocacy Committee Chair

The Advocacy Committee will meet again at the Winter Institute (time and place TBD). All are welcome if you’d like to join us; the more the merrier! It is a new year with a slightly adjusted committee, so we are taking this as a fresh start and will build on what we accomplished last year. Read more.

Experience Committee

Al Vanderberg | Member Experience Committee Chair

The MME Experience Committee would like to thank those who submitted nominees for the slate of MME Awards that are presented at the Winter Institute each year and we have added a new award—Advancing Women in Local Government Leadership Award—which will be awarded annually in memory of Christine Burns. Member Success Committee

Frank Walsh | Member Success Committee Chair

As I reflect on our profession, and recent National Championship game, I’m reminded of the Michigan fight song that includes those four revered words “The Leaders and Best.” Although I’m not a Wolverine, and I went to school in the state south of here, I’m reminded of these four powerful words and how they mirror the members of the MME.

Pause for a moment and consider what we sign up for every day. Read more.
