Year-End Wrap Up, Much to Share

It is hard to believe this is my last newsletter article as your MME President. It certainly has been a year to remember. MME is full of fantastic leaders and local government managers. I want to thank the Board for their tremendous efforts and support this year. The Board met on December 13 with another full agenda. We approved several things that I would like to share. Winter Institute in Troy January 25-28

We are just a couple of short weeks away from the 2022 Winter Institute. This year we are in Troy, Michigan, January 25-28. Make sure that you have booked your lodging. You do not want to miss this conference. Registration information can be found here. The Professional Development Committee has put together a conference with a wide offering of topics. Ethics will be a reoccurring theme throughout the conference. Read more.

Helping Our New Members

As the Member Success Committee has evaluated our role in the organization over this first year in existence, we have heard from a number of our peers regarding first-timers and how we can better integrate them. Our hope is that we can create a welcoming environment for all members when they first interact with our association so that they in turn can better support their communities! Read more

Experience Committee Update

The Experience Committee has a full slate of work to accomplish in 2022. The MME Award nomination and review process netted several award winners that will be honored at the upcoming Winter Institute. Matt Baumgarten | Chair, Advocacy Committee

Happy 2022 from your MME Advocacy Committee. As we start a new year, the Advocacy Committee will be asking each of you to consider joining us in building upon our success. The committee is working to compile a library of resources for managers to use when talking to local groups about the council-manager form of government. The goal is to make this information available to municipal managers and the public via the MME website. Read more.

It’s that time of the year to add your voice to an MME committee. If you'd like to serve on one of the committees, please let us know no later than January 18, 2022. Provide us with your first and second choice. Committee members will be notified of their appointments, and full lists will be made available on the MME website. Read more.

ICMA Midwest Leadership Institute Set

The ICMA’s Midwest Leadership Institute is happening in Northern Illinois in April 2022. The event will have an extensive four-and-a-half-day program designed to address the challenges facing local government professionals. Attendees will learn the concepts needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world from two experienced local government professionals and two organizational psychiatrists who have served the profession for more than 40 years.
